Rolle Medical Partnership is seeking an experienced, motivated and forward-thinking Strategic Nurse Manager to provide strategic clinical leadership across our nursing and wider clinical workforce.

This is a senior clinical leadership position within our established practice and would suit an experienced Registered Practitioner, Advanced Health Practitioner, Advanced Nurse Practitioner or other appropriately registered clinician who is looking to develop their leadership career.

The successful candidate will be a clinician first, with the clinical credibility and experience to understand the challenges faced by our multidisciplinary team and the strategic leadership skills to help shape the future of our services.

About Us

We are a well-established GMS training practice serving approximately 26,000 patients across four surgery sites in beautiful East Devon

Our multidisciplinary team includes GP Partners, Salaried GPs, GP Registrars, Advanced Health Practitioners, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Prescribers, Paramedics, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Nursing Associates and GPAs, working together to provide high-quality, patient-centred care.

The Role

The Strategic Nurse Manager will provide strategic clinical leadership, workforce development and professional oversight across our nursing and wider clinical workforce.

Working closely with the GP Partners, Practice Manager and Clinical Leadership Team, you will help shape our clinical workforce strategy and ensure we have the right people, skills, structures and systems to meet the needs of our growing and diverse patient population.

You will have an important role in ensuring that our multidisciplinary workforce is well supported, appropriately skilled, effectively utilised and able to work to the full scope of their professional capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic clinical leadership across the nursing and wider clinical workforce.
• Lead and develop our Advanced Health Practitioners, ANPs, Practice Nurses, HCAs, Nursing Associates and Paramedics.
• Develop and implement a clinical workforce strategy appropriate for a 26,000 patient practice.
• Support recruitment, retention and effective deployment of clinical staff.
• Review workforce requirements, skill mix and future workforce needs.
• Develop clinical career pathways and opportunities for professional progression.
• Lead clinical training, competency, supervision and appraisal frameworks.
• Support the development of advanced practice and new models of care.
• Promote effective multidisciplinary working and ensure clinicians are appropriately utilised.
• Provide leadership for clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and patient safety.
• Support CQC readiness and clinical governance requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve access, efficiency, patient experience and quality.
• Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative leaders to develop and implement service improvements.
• Contribute to the wider strategic planning and future direction of the practice.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for an established clinician and clinical leader who can combine clinical credibility with strategic thinking.

You will need to be a Registered Practitioner with current professional registration and have significant clinical experience.

• Other appropriately registered clinicians with relevant advanced clinical and leadership experience

You will ideally have:

• Current professional registration with the relevant regulatory body.
• Significant post-registration clinical experience.
• Advanced Practice qualification or equivalent advanced clinical experience.
• Experience of working within primary care or a comparable healthcare environment.
• Experience of clinical leadership and developing multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience of workforce planning and service development.
• Understanding of clinical governance, patient safety, quality improvement and CQC requirements.
• Experience of staff supervision, appraisal and professional development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively with GPs, clinicians, practice management and the wider MDT.
• A proactive approach to innovation and service improvement.

Advanced Practice or Equivalent Experience

We recognise that advanced clinical expertise can be achieved through different professional and career pathways.

A formal Advanced Practice qualification is desirable, but we will also consider applicants who can demonstrate substantial equivalent advanced clinical practice, autonomous clinical decision-making, leadership and service development experience.

Most importantly, you will be a clinician who understands clinical practice and is ready to use that experience to lead and develop our wider clinical workforce.

The role 

As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, you will work as an autonomous practitioner providing high-quality clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients presenting with a wide range of undifferentiated and acute conditions. 

You will work as part of our multidisciplinary team and will have the opportunity to develop your clinical interests and contribute to service development. 

Key responsibilities 

• Undertake comprehensive clinical assessment of patients. 
• Assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic presentations. 
• Provide autonomous clinical decision-making within your scope of practice. 
• Develop and implement appropriate treatment and management plans. 
• Prescribe safely and appropriately within your professional scope. 
• Refer patients appropriately to secondary care and other services. 
• Recognise and manage deteriorating or acutely unwell patients. 
• Provide appropriate safety-netting and follow-up. 
• Work collaboratively with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team. 
• Support continuity and high-quality patient-centred care. 
• Contribute to clinical audits and quality improvement. 
• Participate in clinical meetings and MDT working. 
• Support and contribute to the education and development of colleagues where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and high-quality clinical records. 
• Work within professional standards, practice policies and clinical governance frameworks.

About you 

We are looking for an experienced ANP who is: 

• An experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner with current NMC registration. 
• Educated to an appropriate advanced practice level.

• An independent prescriber. 
• Experienced in primary care or a comparable clinical setting. 
• Able to assess, diagnose and manage undifferentiated presentations. 
• Committed to safe, evidence-based and patient-centred care. 
• An excellent communicator. 
• Able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. 
• Enthusiastic about clinical development and service improvement. 
• Supportive of colleagues and committed to collaborative working.
