Dr Lisa Gibbons
Gender: Female
Primary qualifications: ellow RCGP, MBChB(Hons) Edinburgh 1998, MA(Cantab) Cambridge 1995, MRCP, MRCGP ( Dist), DTM&H ( Dist), DFFP, DRCOG.
Dr Gibbons trained at Cambridge and Edinburgh Universities graduating in 1998. She worked for six years in hospital medicine in Edinburgh and Glasgow with a special interest in General Medicine and Infectious Diseases and did further training in Tropical Medicine at Liverpool University where she was awarded the Milne Medal.
A practicing GP since 2004, Dr Gibbons leads research in primary care and has trained medical students at Exeter University where she is an Honorary Fellow. She is the Primary Care Research Settings Lead for NIHR Research Delivery Network South West Peninsula and holds a national research role as co-chair of the primary care digital reference group for the NIHR research delivery coordinating centre.
The digital group was particularly effective in enabling the UK population to take part in covid research through the Oxford run Panoramic study. Dr Gibbons has a special interest in quality improvement and clinical governance. She has been clinical governance clinical lead for urgent primary care services for NHS Devon for 7 years. In this role she has particularly focused on high quality end of life care, appropriate information sharing across health to support safe and effective care and effective prioritisation of out of hours primary care.
She joined the Practice in 2017. At Rolle she supports clinical research with a focus on offering the opportunity to take part in research as part of routine healthcare. She also has special interests in offering high quality support for people with learning disability, safe prescribing, quality improvement and achieving the best possible end of life care in the community. Dr Gibbons is a GP trainer and is passionate about supporting high quality medical education for all clinicians.
Lisa was awarded fellowship of the Royal College of General Practice in 2024 in recognition of her contributions to many areas of primary care.
Dr Gibbons enjoys spending time in the outdoors and enjoying music with her husband and three children.
